SARS non-structural protein 7 is a novel helical bundle protein. It is conserved in SARS, and a few other coronaviruses. It was the first structure to be determined by the FSPS consortium by NMR. Subsequently, Rao and co-workers showed that this protein forms a large super complex in which eight molecules of nsp7 and eight copies of nsp8 come together to form a hollow ball-like structure.
